Stillman & Birn offers a sketchbook system that gives artists the choice of paper weight, shade, and surface type best suited to their specific techniques. With both internal and surface sizing, our papers have exceptional wet strength that supports the application of multiple washes. These sketchbooks accommodate both two-page drawing layouts and flatbed scanning.

Available in three paper surfaces: Vellum – distinctive tooth, suitable for all dry media, and will also accept multiple washes. Cold Press – Substantial tooth, enhanced wet and tear strength, suitable for multi-media artwork. Smooth – Suitable for pen & ink, colored pencils, water-based markers as well as watercolors.

Gamma Series – Available in hard-cover and wirebound formats. This sketchbook contains ivory white pH neutral 100 lb (150 gsm, vellum surface paper that is suitable for all dry media and light washes. Sheet count: hardbound 62 sheets, wire bound 50 sheets.The Gamma Series is the ivory sibling of the Alpha Series, providing artists with a hearty, warm-toned canvas for work that calls for rich, mellow backdrops.
