Stillman & Birn offers a sketchbook system that gives artists the choice of paper weight, shade, and surface type best suited to their specific techniques. With both internal and surface sizing, our papers have exceptional wet strength that supports the application of multiple washes. These sketchbooks accommodate both two-page drawing layouts and flatbed scanning.

Available in three paper surfaces: Vellum – distinctive tooth, suitable for all dry media, and will also accept multiple washes. Cold Press – Substantial tooth, enhanced wet and tear strength, suitable for multi-media artwork. Smooth – Suitable for pen & ink, colored pencils, water-based markers as well as watercolors.

Epsilon Series – Available in hard-cover and wirebound formats. This sketchbook contains natural white pH neutral 100 lb (150 gsm, plate (smooth) surface paper that is suitable for all dry media and light washes. Sheet count: hardbound 62 sheets, wirebound 50 sheets.

The Epsilon Series paper has the same flexibility and resilience as that of all other Stillman & Birn sketchbooks, but with a buttery smooth, hot press-like surface. Pens and markers glide on it beautifully.
